Let’s Play a Game!

September 4, 2010

Not that game!

And certainly not a LoveGame!

No, the game we’re gonna play is called What’s in a Vegan College Student’s Fridge?!

I’ll give you three choices. Take your pick!

Does you think my fridge looks like Option 1?

Well, I do like to have a good time… πŸ˜‰

Option 2?

But then again, I’m a broke student! I can’t afford all this vegan food.

Or Option 3?

Yeah. Screw veganism, y’all.

If you guessed door number 4, you’re correct. And sneaky!

Boring but delicious.

I’ve got my favorites: a hugh jass tub of crack-hummus, POM juice, chocolate hazelnut milk (you MUST buy it. So good.), Trader Joe’s soy yogurt, apple juice, and spinach.

With the obligatory Naked juice!

Funny side story: Roomie and I are obsessssssed with this stuff. We frequently go to the campus c-store and proclaim that we are “going to get naked” in front of other people. And yes, we’re sober when we do it.

But you guys know I’m not supa healthy all the time. My fridge merely houses the eats I like to have available on a daily basis. Enter the goodie drawer!

Looks pretty innocent, right?

Wrong!

Everything you’re about to see does in fact fit in this drawer. It is just very carefully hidden underneath a layer of “nasty” vegan foods that other people probably wouldn’t dare touch (Seriously, am I the only person on this planet who eats unsalted rice cakes with seaweed?!). Built in security. Booyah.

Life is sweet.

Even sweeter with a giant bowl of fresh fruit to munch on!

The tower of dry goods!

I ❀ bulk Clif bars and mega packs of gum. I’m a gum fiend.

Unfortunately, I’m not such a big fan of these carob chips. Anybody else like ’em?

In other news, I’m sorry my posts have been few and far between. I’ve been pretty busy with classes starting back up, helping run my school’s vegetarian society, a new job, workouts, and my social life beginning once again. Speaking of workouts, I’m thinking about doing a 10k on the 11th. Okay, I’ve been *thinking* about this race for a few months now and sporadically “training” by doing interval workouts on the treadmill. What do you think – should I go for it?

Also, who actually thinks this guy is actually scary?

Question of the Day: What’s your favorite game show?

  3. ooooh-my ideal fridge and pantry……if i were still in a college dorm!!
you got it it goin on, girl πŸ™‚

  4. Megan Says:

Personally I like option 1. Haha but I have sooo many cereal bars/nut butters here! I love it! And I am soo trying that choco milk stuff =D

  5. I’m sort of nosey and into how people keep their cupboards – so I really enjoyed this post, as creepy as I may sound right now πŸ˜› And I love that you proclaim you’re going to get Naked. I SO need to rememebr that πŸ˜›

Going to get naked… haha you are so silly. Also, strange, but true, I’m pretty sure I have that exact same bowl your fruit is hanging out in. Is it from Target? And I store my fruit in that bowl as well. I’m amazed all that you fit in your “goodie drawer”!

  8. Oh, wow! When I went to college (I’m not going to comment on how long ago that was πŸ˜‰ ) I had NO idea how to eat healthy. I went in underweight, but I gained 15 pounds by the end of the first semester, eating a bunch of junk in the dining hall that really didn’t taste good. I guess it falls under “if I knew then what I know now”… kudos to you for being in college and eating so healthy. Seriously! It’s hard to do!!

  9. Faith Says:

Hehe, we used to do the “get naked” thing too! So funny to see other people’s reactions πŸ™‚ Those carob chips are delish – I’m surprised you don’t like them. Maybe stir them into oatmeal?

  10. kaztronomic Says:

    LOL @ “getting naked” πŸ˜€

All of your eats look so scrummy! I’m perpetually nosy, so I love peeking into others’ pantries. I’ve never tried those seaweed rice cakes, but it sounds absurdly delicious and savory. Oh, I used to be a gum fiend! Amor buys his by the multi-pack at Costco, but just one piece sends my tummy into terrible throes of pain nowadays. All those sugar alcohols do a number on me.

I don’t know what my favorite game show is. Sometimes if Deal or No Deal is on, Amor will tune in, but I get so po’d at people’s greed and avarice that I can’t watch for long. =P

  11. That is so ironic that you like Naked juice! I had my first taste of one today. My little brother is obsessed with them. His favorite flavor is the mango flavor. I tried strawberry banana today and like it!
I definitely think you should do the 10k! It sounds like you are prepared for it since you’ve been doing interval workouts (which in my opinion, are the hardest kind of running workouts!).
My favorite game shows are the reality dating shows (hah, I don’t even know if that counts). When I was younger, I liked Figure It Out on Nick πŸ™‚

  12. Lele Says:

Wow kudos. I never fit that much in my fridge in college! I usually had grapes and yogurt… that was about it.
Which is really unfortunate because it meant I’d walk to the convenience store around the corner and buy 25 cent Little Debbie brownies… a LOT.

  13. Did you get these pictures from that fridge photography series that’s sort of creepy and awesome at the same time!?!?

Also the picture at the top really freaks me out. Mission accomplished, so good job haha. My fridge in college looked like option No. 1 πŸ˜‰

  14. I love peeking into other people’s fridges! (am I weird?!) and I had a well stocked fridge all through college because I worked pretty much in the evenings AND I lived with my boyfriend who was working full time πŸ™‚

  15. I just stumbled onto your blog and I love your humor! I also have to agree with you, I recently purchased the same carob chips and they make me gag! Do you have any recommendations for vegan choc chips that don’t produce that reaction?
